John F. Roberts passed away on August 20, 2013 after a long battle with an illness. He fought to the very end and died peacefully in his sleep.
John was born in Boise November 18, 1949 to Luke and Colleen Roberts. John attended Boise High School and was best known for being the school drum major in the band, once performing at half-time of a San Francisco 49ers game. He then went on to attend University of Idaho where he met his wife of 43 years, Linda Falash Roberts and graduated with a degree in Geology.
After graduating from University of Idaho, John and Linda established their home in Boise where he achieved a successful career at Morrison Knudson, and later became the Vice President of Community Relations at Washington Group International, now URS. He began his career in 1973 and was a diversified professional with proven leadership success for one of the nation's largest engineering and construction firms. John made a profound impression on anyone he came across, was known as very kind and always took care of others and their needs. John was a supporter of the United Way of the Treasure Valley and was on the Executive board for Fundsy, a charity program to raise money for numerous other charitable foundations in Boise.
John loved and cared for animals and enjoyed volunteering at the Idaho Humane Society in retirement. He focused on taking care of his family and friends and always loved his “beer-thirty” tradition at 4:00pm on the back patio where he could tell stories and be with people he loved. People who knew and loved John will always remember his quick wit and dry sense of humor, traits that he had until the very end.
John is survived by his wife, Linda Roberts; father-in-law, Tom Falash Sr.; daughter, Lindsey Roberts Koenig; son-in-law, AJ Koenig; one granddaughter, Addison Koenig-John's pride and joy; two brothers-in-law, Tom Falash Jr. and David Falash; and two cousins, Joanne Anderson and John Martin. He was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Roberts; mother, Colleen Roberts and father, Luke Roberts.
Vigil services will be held at Summers Funeral Home, Boise Chapel at 7:00pm on Friday, August 23, 2013. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Sacred Heart Church at 11:00am on Saturday, August 24, 2013. Burial will follow at Morris Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Idaho Humane Society or Sacred Heart School. John was an amazing husband, father and friend and will be missed.
